#1 Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships

The Vanier CGS, which is funded by the Canadian government, is the greatest scholarship for overseas students in Canada. It was established in order to attract the brightest Ph.D. students from throughout the world. The Institute of Health, the Natural Science & Engineering Research Council, and the Social Science & Humanities Research Council will each receive three places. It is granted to 166 winners each year who demonstrate academic brilliance, leadership, and research potential. Scholars are nominated by their respective universities in this manner. Quotas are determined by the institution, with the University of Toronto, British Columbia, and McGill receiving the most.

  1. Scholarship Amount: Value of CAD 50,000 per year for 3 years
  2. Funds Offered for 3 years (non-renewable)

To complete the nomination procedure, the student must submit the institution with the following information:

#2 Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarship

The Pierre Elliot Trudeau Scholarship, named after the former Canadian Prime Minister, intends to subsidize the Ph.D. studies of 16 students concentrating in one of the foundation’s four topics. The student must have been accepted into a Canadian doctoral program to be eligible. Academic achievement, dedication, leadership & involvement, agility & resilience are all factors that go into selecting awards. Scholars must also engage in one or more of the foundation’s programs.

  1. Scholarship Amount: CAD 40,000  a year for 3 years
  2. Eligible Degree: Full-time doctorate degree in Human Rights and Dignity, People and the Natural Environment, Reliable Citizenship, or Canada and the World

Application Deadline For The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarship 2023 is December 2nd, 2022 at 5:00 p.m EST.

#3 Lester B. Pearson International Student Scholarships

International students with high academic profiles and great leadership qualities are eligible for the Lester B. Pearson scholarship, one of Canada’s top. This merit-based prize is given to 37 students each year at the University of Toronto. Apart from books, lodging, and miscellaneous fees, this practice covers the whole cost of tuition.

The award is only available to first-time Bachelor’s students who have been nominated by their high school counselors. Only once the nomination has been approved may the student apply. The institution will notify successful applicants by April in time for the fall semester.

Scholarship Amount: Full tuition amount for four years

Eligible Degree: Bachelor’s degree at the University of Toronto

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply to the Pearson International Scholarship, you must be:

  • an international student (i.e. a non-Canadian requiring a study permit);
  • currently in your final year of secondary school or have graduated no earlier than June 2022
  • beginning your studies at the University of Toronto in September 2023 (students already attending post-secondary studies cannot be considered; students starting their studies in January 2023 at another post-secondary institution cannot be considered)

Application Process

  • Receive a nomination from your school (High schools not already contacted/verified are asked to submit an application to participate in our program.
  • Apply to study at the University of Toronto to begin your studies in 2023 and complete your application for admission by the appropriate deadlines.  Please be advised that you will be considered for the Pearson Scholarship for your first choice of program at U of T.  You may apply for several programs and may receive admission to them all; however, the Pearson Scholarship, if awarded to you, would be restricted to your first choice of program at U of T at the time our scholarship decisions are made.
  • Once we’ve received a nomination and you’ve applied to the university, you can complete the online Lester B. Pearson Scholarship application.

Pearson Scholarship Deadlines

  • School nomination deadline: November 30, 2022
  • Student OUAC application deadline: December 14, 2022 (Please note this is the final date to submit an application to the OUAC; however, it is recommended you apply for admission through the OUAC before November 7, 2022 as spaces in programs fill-up quickly and popular programs may close early.)
  • Student scholarship application deadline: January 16, 2023

#4 Karen Mc Kellin International Leader Of Tomorrow Award Scholarship

All overseas students who are intellectually gifted are eligible for the Karen Mc Kellin prize. Applicants who have not yet completed their first baccalaureate degree are eligible to apply. Those who display leadership in community service and student affairs are also given consideration.

Scholarship Amount: Proportional to financial need

Eligible Degree: Bachelor’s degree at the University of British Columbia

DEADLINE: Apply for the International Scholars Program by submitting the application by the November 15 deadline.

#5 University Of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship (UMGF)

The University of Manitoba offers Graduate Fellowships (UMGF) to academically excelled Masters or Ph.D. students at the University of Manitoba.  A candidate must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 to be considered. Other faculties may demand a higher score, therefore this requirement may change. Scholars must be recommended by their respective departments.

They will be contacted via email by the Faculty of Graduate Studies once they have been chosen. The monetary value varies depending on the degree of help, with a maximum of five years of aid. As a result, any student who obtained financing for a 2-year Master’s degree is still eligible for funding for a 3-year Ph.D.

  1. Scholarship Amount: CAD 14,000  a year for 1 to 2 years for Masters students, CAD 18,000  a year for 1 to 4 years for Ph.D. Students
  2. Eligible Degree: Full-time Masters and Doctorate degrees at the University of Manitoba
